BAUCHI STATE GOVERNMENT
At the instance of the World Bank Malaria Control Booster Project (MCBP) and the Bauchi state agency for the control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (BACATMA), we supported the Government of Nigeria’s effort to achieve its malaria-control objective which had two main components: 1) strengthening the capacity of the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide malaria control leadership and coordination over the medium and long-term; and 2) strengthening the health system to improve delivery of an integrated package of interventions in the target states.
Our specific task had included; a. complete census and mapping of all existing primary health care facilities including their GPS locations and coordinates across all 20 LGAs of the state, b. census of all communities, villages and kindred groups in all 20 LGAs of the state, c. census of all community laboratories and patent medicine vendors both registered and unregistered, d. census and mapping of all other existing institutions and channels of preventive and curative interventions in the control of malaria and other tropical disease across all the 20 LGAs of the state.
