JIGAWA STATE GOVERNMENT

At the instance of the World Bank Malaria Control Booster Project (MCBP) and the Jigawa state

Ministry of health (SMoH), we supported the Government of Nigeria’s effort to achieve its malaria-control objective which had two main components: 1) strengthening the capacity of the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide malaria control leadership and coordination over the medium and long-term; and 2) strengthening the health system to improve delivery of an integrated package of interventions in the target states.

Our specific task had included; a. rolling out of the intervention strategy across 323 communities in Kazaure and Ringim LGAs of Jigawa state b. development of an advocacy strategy for engaging community leaders and key government officials in all 323 communities, c. advocacy to community leaders and key government officials (Community entry) in all 323 communities, d. training of health workers on the CDI approach and participatory rural appraisal methodology within the context of delivery of malaria control and prevention services in all 323 communities, e. training of community volunteers on CDI approach and PRA methodology within the context of delivery of malaria control and prevention services in all 323 communities, f. guiding the conduct of community mapping and action plan in all 323 communities, g. facilitating the conduct of community meetings/dialogues in all 323 communities, h. training on participatory monitoring for health workers and CDDs in all 323 communities, i. institutionalising the PM&E system (community monitoring, documentation and reporting) in all 323 communities.
